Have deeds, No homes

Members of the Jaffna Sinhala families evicted by the LTTE today said although they are in possession of their land deeds the government is not making any moves to resettle them as their lands are now in possession of Mahavir families.

Displaying their land deeds at a media briefing the displaced Sinhalese who are now housed at Jaffna Railway station said they are now being looked after by their former Tamil neighbours and relations as their property had been given to ‘Mahavir’ families by the LTTE in their absence.

Close to 100 Jaffna Sinhala families that were given temporary shelter in Mihintale after their eviction have now moved to Jaffna in view of resetting.
