In a strategic move the government has decided to set up new Industrial Processing Zones (IPZs) in difficult local government secretariats where the industrialists will have easy access to abundance of labour.

To this effect the Invest Promotion Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana has presented a Cabinet paper for a proposed IPZ in Puttalam which has an extent of 250 acres.

Meanwhile another three IPZs in the Hambantota District – Sooriyawewa, Mirijjawila and Bollagaswewa are currently in progress.

Another two IPZs in the Matara district – in areas Mawarala and Hakmana are also in the pipeline. (Dilina Kulatunga)

Please take some of them to North, East and North central, where there are more people without jobs.
All problem start mainly due to poverty.
