GDP slows down in 3Q12

Sri Lanka’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 4.8 percent in the third quarter of 2012 (3Q12) against 8.5 percent growth recorded in the same period of the previous year (3Q11)
The agriculture sector contracted 0.5 percent in 3Q12 against a 6.5 percent growth in the corresponding quarter of the previous year while industry sector grew 7.3 percent against a 10.8 percent growth in 2011. The services sector grew 4.6 percent down from 7.8 percent in 3Q11.
