Detained former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka is attending the inaugural session of the seventh Parliament. Fonseka was reportedly driven to Parliament under tight security.
He was elected to the new Parliament at the recent General Elections. Fonseka is being probed over an alleged illegal arms deal and other allegations.
Speaking in Parliament the General said that he was being detained undemocratically and urged the Speaker to intervene in his matter.

It is not about Mahinda or SF.
SF was good soldier during the war, but betrayed heroic forces and made profit through his son in laws company.
Mahinda is the true leader who directed all resources within his powers to defeat terrorism.
SF was a hero, but failed to maintain and betrayed mother lanka for dollars and political power.
Those who betray my country should pay maximum price for it.

critic, stop bending your back bone to european masters.
Sri lanka is government by srilankan voters and not by EU.
Majority srilankans have voted for Mahinda and SF is virtually rejected.
The very same people who enbraced SF as hero, have made him a traitor when he politically betryaed the country.
SF himself is reponsible for this pathatic situation.

This is not about showing MR's leadership or mighty power. It is a fundamental right within democratic framework to allow a member elected by voters to be sworn in and continue to practice as a Member of Parliament. Do not think MR could have deprived General SF of that. Of course the whole civilized world was watching at this and MR knew exactly the consequences of it if he did not make the way for General to enter into the Parliament. If you do not know that few years ago India allowed ‘bandit queen’ Poolan Devi to enter into and function as a Member of Parliament while she was serving in the prison.

SF was a leader of a rare breed which MR can never dream of being part of. True MR is a clever politician and at that level a leader - So was Machiavelli. All great leaders started their national duties against all odds, with a lot of sacrifice. Against this backdrop, it is certainly a great day for Sri Lanka to wittness a leader like SF taking his long overdue place in terms of national duties.

It has certainly taken a very long time for us to understand!
It will take some more months of Sundays to feel the pinch in the boot.

SF should learn to talk calmly in parliament - take note of how Arjuna, our Captain Cool, speaks. Or Vijitha Herath. But dont speak the same way or worse than Anura Kumara D. GOOD LUCK TO YOU IN PARLIAMENT - IF NOT FOR YOUR BRILLIANT MILITARY STRATEGY THE WAR WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN WON & WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO WALK FREELY ON THE ROADS.

His health was a problem a few days/weeks ago - bronchitis & pneumonia are like that - it reaches a climax & then recovers almost as soon as it sets in.

UNP joined an alliance to back Fonseka at the presidential election but went their separate ways at the general election. I am sure the General & his group would see eye to eye on the same issues and stay together to oppose what is wrong - stress for good governance and free the country of corruption & thuggery.

what nonsense . as if MR can interfere with the law to THAT extent. When others come to PArliament in prison vans how can MR stop SF coming to parliament. Had he done so he would have proved to the whole world that this country was 100% undemocratic & even HE cant stoop to that level.
so nice to see u in parliament our gallant soldier & i hope these ridiculous allegations against u will be thrown to the dust bin by the civil court.

Also the editor, do not you have some idea to edit when someone disrespect a person's Name ?? What is Ponsi ??? there are hundreds of thousands of Fonseka's in Sri Lanka and this is an insult for them as well. There are so much of websites where you can comment with any foul language even sometimes you cannot read. We thought DM is different to them ??

Those who write those glowing remarks about SF, remember.
Even Ranil and the UNP spoke of him like that. Now they have all forgotten him. It is more than likely that you have picked up the old words Ranil and his gang uttered before the Presidential elections, which they themselves have dropped now.

SF is a great military leader with no emotions, the one man pushed all three forces towards victory, but it will take sometime to become a gentle-man.

Well well the real drama begins....
When contesting Presidential Election he said he will fight for the democracy, press freedom, bla... bla... Now he is saiyng that he will fight for the rights & privilege of the MP's... when time passes he only fight for HIS RIGHTS & PRIVILEGE only... wait and see
