Cops interdicted over assault

Two police officers who were allegedly involved in an assault on a man at the Angulana police station this week have been interdicted over the incident. Another police officer has been exonerated over his involvement in the incident.

Residents of the area staged a protest in front of the police station on Monday alleging a youth who was taken in was assaulted while in custody. The youth was subsequently admitted to a hospital. A police constable of the Angulana police station had on Monday taken a youth into custody over his failure to produce the National Identity Card. In a subsequent altercation the police officers had allegedly assaulted the youth.

The OIC had released him on police bail. He had later got himself admitted to the Lunawa Hospital from where he had been transferred to Kalubowila hospital. (AW)

Disband the Sri lanka police without any further delay. Hand over the law & order to the Military. The citizens of Sri lanka hate & have no respect for the Police department. The Police is not an example in Sri Lanka. The Top man down to the last is corrupt

First of all we must admit that the general public of our country abhor the country's police force because of their erroneous role in the civil society.Indeed the role being played by the police in the civil activities is extremely biased. As such Sri Lanka police have won a disgrace instead of goodwill among general public of the country. When looking back to the history of the police since the independence of our country no government or stateman was able to halt or control its arbitrary role played in the society.
