Prices of bread and other bakery products could be increased in the near future, the All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association warned today.

The president of the All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association said the prices could go up as a result of the Nation Building Tax being to four percent.

He said Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake had turned a deaf ear to their request for a concession, though they had explained the situation to him both in writing and at a meeting held recently.

They increased wages by 10,000 rs. They printed money over ten billions rupees. They did not stop corruptions which they thought could use for the salary increase. The government does not have money. Rupee is down,devalued to 145 rs per dollar. So all prices of goods should go up. This is the change people got by changing the previous regime. I wonder if we have to pay tax if we use our own toilet!
