Water supply restrictions announced in Homagama amid dry weather conditions

Colombo, April 6 (Daily Mirror) - The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has introduced restrictions following the prevailing dry weather, as reservoir levels continue to decline.

Production has been limited to the Labugama and Kalatuwawa Water Treatment Plants, which are operated by feeder reservoirs, due to the rapid decrease in water levels.

Accordingly, water supply to areas served by these treatment plants will be suspended on Tuesday, April 07, 2026, from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.

The affected areas include Homagama Zone No. 02, Homagama Town, Wakanda, Pinketha Road, Walawwa Road, Gemunu Mawatha, Athurugiriya Road, Galawila Watta, Niyandagala, Magammana, Mahakatuwana, Deniya, and Diyagama University.

NWSDB said the restrictions have been introduced to manage the limited water supply effectively and urged residents to use water sparingly during this period.
