Warm conditions to persist; evening showers expected in parts of the island

Colombo, March 31 (Daily Mirror) - The prevailing warm weather conditions across Sri Lanka are expected to continue today (31), according to the Department of Meteorology.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts during the evening or night. Mainly dry weather is expected to prevail over the rest of the island.

Misty conditions are likely in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts during the early hours of the morning.

The public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimize potential damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Meanwhile, mainly fair weather will prevail over the sea areas surrounding the island. Winds will be easterly or variable in direction with speeds of 20–30 kmph, while the seas are expected to be slight.
