Wanninayake files writ petition to prevent arrest

Attorney-at-law Gunaratne Wanninayake yesterday (14) filed a writ petition before the Court of Appeal, seeking an order to prevent his arrest before being produced in court, in connection with an incident involving a police constable at the Mount Lavinia Court premises.

The application is scheduled to be taken up before the Court of Appeal today.

Imagine a common citizen behaved in his manner after whatever situation, he'd be arrested in no time and remanded on the spot. Spineless police were just looking at him helplessly there that day. What more evidence or proof do we need to understand that there are double standards practised everywhere, where law enforcement is concerned!

This is a new trend of rich people, earns a lot of money and at the crucial juncture they go court for eccepted bail on their charges means a bad experience gives the people. It should be controlled.
