A new report by the World Health Organisation reclassifies Community Transmission into four levels and several health experts observed that Sri Lanka is already in Level 3.

According to the new classification, Level 3 indicates high incidence of locally acquired widely dispersed cases in the past 14 days. As per the situational assessment, four more situational levels have also been defined and Situational Level 3 is defined as a situation of community transmission with limited additional capacity to respond and a risk of health services being overwhelmed.

Responding to a query,  Health Ministry media spokesperson Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara said that we are in a situation with limited resources and authorities are therefore seeking public support to bring the situation under control.  (Kamanthi Wickramasinghe)

Limited resources to curb the pandemic? What happened to the millions of dollars that poured into the country from other nations to fight the pandemic? In what a country are we living!? Imagine key institutions of the country going unaudited where there would be no accountability for the taxes we pay from hard-earned money!!!

YES! Public Support would be readily available, if decisions are taken thinking of the practical problems faced by the community -especially public transport, if curfew is lifted / Can we keep 'distance' in public buses and trains in Sri Lanka?

Please Please tell the truth and take us in this difficult journey. Look at Australia , same population level as ours is nearly eradicated the virus

Nationwide curfew asap might be the only way to slow transmission now. This stop, review situation, and start approach might be our only option until a vaccine.

Learn to live with Covid 19 as in many other countries do right now. Follow strict guidelines at all times. In European countries, positive cases are rising above 1500. Stop complaining. Instead, face the situation with a positive mind rather than trying to become a positive victim.

Any good news from the "miracle water" ? Is it because they forgot to open the lid when they dropped it? It appears virus spread is increasing after they threw the pot into the river and awaken the mother Corona.

My fear of community transmission of the virus 2 days ago, is substantiated with this new WHO Report. Physical distancing, proper wearing of Masks and all other precautions are vital to stop the escalation.

Moorthy Badulla Saturday, 07 November 2020 04:43 PM

WHO is WHO to tell us about COVID 19? We know how to abolish COVID 19 as we have already abolished the so called deadly ....19 that destroyed the country more than COVID 19.
