Vessel carrying 37,500MT of petrol to arrive today

A vessel carrying 37,500 metric tons of petrol will arrive in the country today, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) said.

CPC Chairman Sumith Wijesinghe said the fuel would arrive in Sri Lanka under the Indian credit line.

The CPC said that the stock of petrol will be sufficient for about 25 days.

Meanwhile, the CPC said that 41,000 metric tons of diesel which arrived yesterday is currently being unloaded.(DSB)

But with everyone trying to horde fuel, the stock would be finished in 25 hours. The normal grocery shops are opening selling petrol which is a huge fire hazard.

In SRI LANKA, Arrival and Unloading are two entirely different events. Arrival does NOT mean unloading would commence as sooner the vessel arrives.

Another 46 million liters of petrol is provided by India. Sri Lankan Government should keep a tight vigil on hording of petrol and diesel.

this fuel is going where? Govt vehicles? Their entourage, family and friends! The people certainly don't seem to be getting any. The fact that people have been hoarding gas and fuel - shows the level of control and how easy it is to attempt crookery. Can you blame the people - they've learnt from the best!!!!!!!!!!!
