Those who opposed Ranil’s directive to send the navy to the Red Sea earlier, see what he got in return. He must have known about this gift

How wonderful ! Is this a brand-new vessel or one of those which was about to be scrapped in India anyway ?

No jobs for the Navy if No Vessels Wednesday, 28 February 2024 10:49 PM

Sri Lanka is famous for getting old used military equipment. It’s better than having nothing for the navy to boast the layers of high ranking personnel!

Put your brown soldiers at risk, we'll give you an old ship! Laughable how he justifies this as if SL is one of the most affected countries due to the red sea blockade when the exact opppsite is true. Use of the colombo port has increased due to ships taking alternate routes!

You're welcome USA. Ranil is the new Aqua Man.

Certainly need more: Some submarines(nuclear), Old F15s(if F16 not available), One F35, One aircraft carrier, 10 Abrahms, 100 Cruise missiles, One Iron Dorm system, 100 Lepards, 25 Taurus and 1000 Javelin missiles.

On a purely personal level, I have never liked Ranil, never voted for him, never cared much for him, found him arrogant and even rather condescending at times. But as they say ... cometh the hour, cometh the man. Most of the decisions [most, not all] have been far-sighted, pragmatic, and realistic. Most of his contenders are full of hot air, with airy-fairy schemes for developing the country

Hope the business side of the Red Sea fiasco opportunity can be captured by the Colombo Port. If ships have to travel around south Africa to avoid the suez canal to Europe, then for bunkering stevedoring Sri Lanka is well positioned. China is eyeing this for Hambantota port - where SL will get a 15% of the profit. If Colombo Port also can increase their bunkering and ship supply (stevedoring) capabilities this is an opportunity. Even for ship crew transfers use a Sri Lankan port (need good connecting flights and helicopter service)

Well it is a dangerous for SriLanka, Arab nations could curtail their aid to Sri Lanka, therefore, America should help this poor nation to submerge from the current economic crisis.

Why don't you appreciate them (SL government) for the service they are doing for their own local people with No medicine - no books - no food - no - no - no! Only politicians are safe!
