US $ 200 million out of Indian credit line for pharmaceutical imports

The government decided to use US $ 200 million out of the US $ 1 billion Indian credit line to import essential medicines from India, a Minister said today.

State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana said both the state and private sector could use this facility to purchase drugs from India.

“We have called for application from the registered suppliers now,” the Minister said.
