Colombo, Feb 29 (Daily MiAn exclusive admission event organized by ICFS (International Center for Foreign Studies) in collaboration with UK's York St. John University is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 02, at the ICFS Education Center in Nugegoda.

The event aims to provide "On the Spot offer letters" to students interested in enrolling at York St. John University's campuses in London and York. All candidates visiting the ICFS Education Center on March 02 will have the opportunity to secure admission to York St. John University within one hour upon meeting Mrs. Bhagya Perera, the Country Manager for York St. John University in Sri Lanka.

Mrs. Perera, with her extensive experience in the international education sector, is well-versed in the requirements of Sri Lankan students, streamlining the process of obtaining a "Spot offer letter." Since her appointment, York St. John University has recruited approximately 300 students annually, establishing itself as one of the most popular British universities in Sri Lanka.

York St. John University's appeal to Sri Lankan students is attributed to its affordable tuition fees, which stand below Rs 4.5 million annually, and its diverse range of subject areas catering to the preferences of Sri Lankan students.

ICFS extends this opportunity to candidates intending to enroll for the September 2024 intake. Miss. Chathurika Dissanayake, CEO of ICFS Education Center, also mentioned that students residing outside Colombo can participate virtually in the event to secure their spot offer letters. Candidates interested in virtual participation are urged to contact ICFS at +94 777 406 793 and +094 777 035 452 to register and submit their documents before Saturday.

Never heard the name of this university in Britain !!

    Vendy Thursday, 29 February 2024 02:21 PM

It is very popular in Sri Lanka though.

Boutique universities offer instant admission to earn money.

Sam thambiah Thursday, 29 February 2024 10:28 AM

Very suspicious, never heard of such a university. They are luring innocent kids and parents by supposedly giving insistent admissions. That itself shows its a scam, how can the credentials and academic suitability of a student be evaluated on the spot ? Low fee is to attract students, but is the degree from this uni worth the paper it's written on ? Caveat Emptor buyer be aware.

Whatever offers done by UK universities our students are struggling in UK with current situation and immigration law therefore according to me UK is not a safe destination for our young generation. Honestly I don't no about other countries

    D. Jayasinghe Thursday, 29 February 2024 02:16 PM

York St John University is not a boutique University. The Campus in York, which I study spreads over acres and they take care of the students very well. Academic quality is well maintained and the lecturers are very supportive and they are well qualified. The London campus is a city campus Model if that is what you meant to be a boutique campus. I believe you are aware of what a city campus is. In London obviously you cant' have a campus that runs over for acres. Also FYR we have over 600 Sri Lankan students on campus at the moment. It could be that a few Sri Lankans are not aware of the university. Makes sense! you can't remember all the universities in the UK isn't it?

Rohini Fernando Thursday, 29 February 2024 02:34 PM

My daughter started her undergraduate studies in 2022 at this university. We also went to visit her last year. It is a nice university situated in the heart of York City where a student can get real British experience. Mid-range ranking university with affordable cost. Campus accommodations are very safe.

    saman Thursday, 29 February 2024 02:54 PM

The campus (I mean the buildings) may look good. The lecturers may be caring. But you have to think about its academic reputation since you will eventually have to go to the job market and compete against students armed with degrees from reputed universities. Employers know which degrees and universities they can trust and rely upon. Don't be fooled by the appearances of buildings and surroundings. What matters is the QUALITY OF EDUCATION AND REPUTATION.

Absolutely, having factual information is crucial before forming opinions or criticizing something. York St John University indeed boasts impressive achievements and rankings across various aspects of its academic and student experience. *Here are some key points to consider:* *Location:* York St John University has both a main campus in York and a postgraduate campus in London, strategically located to provide rich learning environments. *Student Population:* With over 8,500 students, the university offers a diverse academic community. *Academic Structure:* The university is organized into five schools covering a wide range of subjects, from arts to business.

Dishan Fernando Thursday, 29 February 2024 04:48 PM

*Rankings and Recognitions:* The university has received several accolades including top rankings in student satisfaction, teaching quality, and student outcomes, as recognized by various institutions and surveys such as WhatUni Student Choice Awards, Teaching Excellence Framework, The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, The Guardian University Rankings, and the National Student Survey. *Graduate Employability:* A notable achievement is the high percentage (95%) of YSJ students who are in work or further study within 15 months after graduation, reflecting the university's commitment to preparing students for successful careers. Understanding these facts provides a solid foundation for informed discussions and assessments of York St John University's performance and contributions to higher education.

    S. Sathiyapalan Thursday, 29 February 2024 07:30 PM

I believe the rankings related to graduate employability at York St John University speaks a lot about how employers recognize their degrees. YSJU is in the top 25 of the universities to have higher graduate employability and 96.6% is their graduate employability rate. So 96.6% of the students find jobs or move for further education within 6 months. Refer to the university website to know more and false accusations without knowing facts to misguide prospective students don't seem to be ethical. I am a student at YSJU and I can assure the future students of how good the university is. Don't buy what people who have note tested the depth of the water say. we are in it and we know that there is absolutely no problem with the recognition of the university or the quality.

After rule changes regarding dependent visas, inquiries would have died up.

    Fact Thursday, 29 February 2024 11:27 AM

Most of the four floor buildings in Bambalapitiya are now off shore campuses of foreign universities.

    Kumudu Thursday, 29 February 2024 02:19 PM

Yes there are a lot of franchised campuses in Colombo now but York St John University doesn't have any branch campuses in Sri Lanka.

    Sam Thursday, 29 February 2024 12:33 PM

Well people will be doing anything to make money, what's wrong with Sri Lankan's?? We wanted a system change unless people change sri lanka will never change.

    Saman Thursday, 29 February 2024 12:49 PM

Please ask them about job prospects after the degree. Check the ranking of this university in UK league tables. Not all UK universities are equally reputed.

Sahan Gamage Thursday, 29 February 2024 03:54 PM

Graduate outcome is 96.9% and they are in the top 25 universities for graduate outcome #facts You can refer to the university website for more details.

    Sunil Thursday, 29 February 2024 12:56 PM

UK university system is effectively four sets of universities. Russel group universities which are the reputed universities. Then the next level of fairly good universities and then the third level which were poly technical colleges that gained university status in 1990s. Then there are a few universities that gained university status closer to 2000. They are the ones in the lowest tier of the food chain. What you pay is what you get

    nishan Thursday, 29 February 2024 01:10 PM

I know graduates from this university who got their degrees more than 10 years ago still doing odd jobs such as cleaning.

    Prabath Thursday, 29 February 2024 01:30 PM

I visited this university last year. There I met two Sri Lankans who said they were lecturers there. Not the sort of standards of people you meet in good universities. It almost looked like a scheme to attract as many from Sri Lanka by giving them a home feel

    N. Wickramasinghe Thursday, 29 February 2024 02:44 PM

Different students have different requirements. Some may go for Top universities but some may want to acquire a foreign qualification for career enhancement. the purpose is different for every individual and they make the choice accordingly. Their budget will also be a main factor in choosing a university. We can't discriminate the universities. I came to UK as a student and studied at one of the leading universities in London and currently employed as a software Engineer. There here have been instances where we have been disappointed at the university and there have been instances that we were well supported by the university. UK has a variety of universities that suits everyone's budget and entry requirements. I personally know a couple of friends who study at York St Jones and they are pretty settled and doing fine. I personally believe it's a good option for Lankan students amidst this economic crisis where the rupee is depreciated

    dylan Thursday, 29 February 2024 03:00 PM

You may not want to discriminate the universities. But they employers do - that's the point.

Sahan Gamage Thursday, 29 February 2024 03:49 PM

York St John is among the top 25 for graduate employability. 96.9 % of the graduates find employment within 6 months or move into further education as per the rankings. I think these official rankings do speak because unlike in Sri Lanka, the UK authorities don't issue rankings for money if there aren't real outcomes. #facts

The best University! Nothing to complain so far and things have been very smooth for me as a student. I was a little down upon coming to UK and I was given extra support to overcome the challenges. I think York St John University is the best decision I have made so far in my academic journey. I recommend the uni to all Sri Lankan Students

I am currently studying at York St. John university as a MBA (professional practice) student. I came here in last september and still reading my MBA. YSJ is a good university for academic. All the course fees are affordable and as a SL student, it is one of the most important factors to enroll this university. Many Sri Lankan students are studying at YSJ. Country Manager Mrs. Bhagys Perera is doing great job. For an example of my case, she did all the visas of my family (me, husband and son) for free of charge. She supported me in every way. Not only me, she supported every student who came to YSJ. I really appreciate the YSJ team in Sri Lanka and I highly recommend York St John university. My daughter studies at the York Campus. Great Campus and safe place. She got settled very quick there, got a part time job in a couple of weeks. She also has a good neighborhood.

    Fhiain Thursday, 29 February 2024 05:44 PM

I started my postgraduate studies at a Russell Group university, and swapped to YSJ. Reason? As a mature student I wasn’t enjoying my previous studies and heard good things about YSJ, which provided a much more enjoyable, practical and interesting experience, with extremely committed and helpful tutors. Full-on academic isn’t for everyone, nor is it appropriate for some creative/artistic courses.

    Harshi Thursday, 29 February 2024 07:02 PM

Great University. affordable tuition and decent lecturers and campus facilities. York is very safe to be.

Bhanuka Perera Thursday, 29 February 2024 07:15 PM

I think YSJ is a great option for many students who dream of studying in the UK. Uni might not be very popular like a Russel Group Uni but they get their quotas full every intake. It's demanded and affordable, Has industry placement options too. Less than 3% of the candidates probably go for Russel Group universities and the rest of the 97% do look at options where they get a decent qualification which is accredited at a competitive fee. York St John comes in handy for that 97% of the population to achieve their goals.

Dhanuka Nalin Abeysinghe Thursday, 29 February 2024 07:21 PM

It is great to see that the systems are improving to evaluate students and that the students are able to secure offer letters fast without having to wait for weeks. Academic evaluation for straightforward cases takes minutes and this is in fact a great move! You must do these programs in areas out of Colombo too. There are many students who don't know about these opportunities

    Ishu Thursday, 29 February 2024 07:35 PM

People talking about quality sitting in Sri Lanka. This university is much better than Sri Lankan ones. UK is much developed than Sri Lanka. LOL
