Two suspects arrested over Rs. 6 million gold robbery in Ganemulla



Colombo, Sep.28 (Daily Mirror) - Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the assault and robbery of gold ornaments worth nearly Rs. 6 million, police said.

The arrests were made yesterday (27) in the Kiribathgoda area by a team of officers from the Western Province North Crime Division.

According to police, the robbery took place in Ganemulla on September 20. The suspects, aged 17 and 20, are residents of Ganemulla and Kendaliyaddapaluwa.

Investigators recovered gold ornaments that had been melted down, weighing 121 grams and 350 milligrams, along with two gold bars weighing 17 grams and 15 milligrams, in the possession of the suspects.

The Western Province North Crime Division is conducting further investigations.
