Two men were killed in an explosion which took place at a fireworks manufacturing factory in Kimbulapitiya, Katana today, police said.

The victims were identified as 35-year-old Krishantha Niroshan of Kimbulapitiya and 19-year-old Tharindu Madhusanka of Maskeliya.

They were pronounced dead on admission to the Negombo General Hospital. (Hubert Fernando)
