Two inmates die, five hospitalised due to unidentified infection at Galle Prison

Two inmates at the Galle prison have died and several others have been hospitalised due to an unidentified illness, the Prison Department said.

The Prisons spokesman said that five inmates have also been admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Prisons Department has taken measures to wear face masks in the prison as a safety measure to protect against the unidentified epidemic while a probe is under way to identify the infection.
