The train which came to flatform number one

    Nimal Monday, 15 April 2024 06:02 PM

The deplorable state of the engine says it all. The sad reality of the CGR today. However, do not say that it is a brake failure. These brakes are meant to be activated in the event of a brake failure. This also reminds me of the brake failure of the intercity express train from Kandy to Colombo that occurred about twenty years ago. The brakes of that train failed, (and I am still wondering how it could have happened), as soon as it departed Kadugannawa railway station and started its descent towards Rambukkana located about 21 km away. When the brakes failed, the train continued to gain speed in a perilous manner and the engine and several carriages derailed just before reaching Rambukkana, claiming the lives of about 20 people. Our utterly unpragmatic minister is busy initiating odyssey trains.

Let's not rush to judgement. Let's wait to hear the exact reason.

The state of the train says it all. The train came to "f"latform and flattened it? Haiyoooo Sri Lanka and Sri Lankans! When will this beautiful country ever be "developed" without saying "developing"! Minister should be looking into the state of the present trains in which majority of the country travel, before introducing odysseys which only the rich and the foreigners can afford!

Driver has attended Avurudu Party given by his local MP and returned to work from the party heavily intoxicated

The look of the train says the actual situation of CGR. People of our country had enough patience to tolerate the horrendous state of affairs with Srilanka Railways. Corrupted ministers and the top management of Srilanka Railways should take the responsibility. Whilst our neighbouring countries are enjoying good quality Railways our commuters are undergoing untold miseries. Shameless fellows are the Railways trade unions and the top management. They still using the rotten public address system to announce the train schedules which is an eyesore. Ongoing economic crisis didn't open the eyes of the minister of transport to encourage people to use public transport system to curtail the important of fossil fuels.

Having used the commuter trains, which according to some the ‘ordinary citizens’ travel, it’s good in a way that the new s13 units are assigned to routes that only people who pay a ‘price’ uses it. Those new units would be reduced to scrap if used on routes where freeloaders use it for a next to nothing fee or even worse, without paying any fee by fish vendors and those who transport goods from station to station by entering from the backyard! This country will not develop, not because of government or politicians- because of its people!

The train looks like come from Timbuktu must have gone through some rubish Pitts Tourist destination we need face lift urgently maintenance office need a good kick far toomany issues due to poor management internal issues specially government sector's are been niglected by people who work....somthing need to be done ...

    joshua Tuesday, 16 April 2024 12:29 PM

Disgraceful CGR. Look at the condition of the engine. , if you have eyes

    DW Tuesday, 16 April 2024 12:47 PM

That train should be in a junk yard. Even the trains in poorer countries don't look this bad. How can in a country where every politician owns luxury German car has such poor-quality rusted trains???

    Cherath Tuesday, 16 April 2024 01:17 PM

The President and the rest of the clique in government need to get out of their gleaming German cars, open their eyes wide and take a look at the nudity of the Nation's assets and infrastructure as amply demonstrated by this train engine. It's a piece of junk not seen even in darkest Africa. Instead of busily planning for new vehicle imports replace these archaic pieces with modern, comfortable locomotives.

    Mohamed Tuesday, 16 April 2024 03:14 PM

    Driver is drunk.

Grahame leitch Thursday, 25 April 2024 11:26 AM

Just look at the state of the train the Flintstones go better why can't they make the live stock more presentable like painting the trains with good colour schemes it's just like the airline the maintenance is sub-standard no attention to detail because it is State owned and the Management don't give a toss
