Colombo, March 22 (Daily Mirror) — Thriposha production has resumed following a months-long halt caused by a shortage of standardized maize, the key raw material required for its manufacture.
Officials said the disruption had led to irregular distribution of Thriposha among targeted beneficiary groups across the country.
The situation was resolved after the intervention of Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, Wasantha Samarasinghe. The Thriposha Company recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the State Commercial Miscellaneous Corporation to import standardized maize with Cabinet approval, restoring the supply chain.
Chairman Amal Attanayake said that production has now recommenced on a 24-hour basis to meet demand.
He added that islandwide distribution will be carried out through Medical Officer of Health (MOH) offices, ensuring that those who missed out on supplies will receive Thriposha by the end of this month, with adequate stocks expected to be maintained in the coming months.
