Three days needed to restore fuel supply: Tanker owners

Colombo, March 1 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners' Association (SLPPTOA) says it will take at least three days to recover from the fuel shortage and normalise distribution across the country due to ongoing panic buying.

SLPPTOA Joint Secretary D. V. Shantha Silva stated that the dispatching of fuel stocks from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has already begun. However, he explained that it will take time for the fuel to be transported and delivered to the respective filling stations that have placed orders.

Panic buying began in several parts of the country amid fears of possible supply disruptions due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. This situation led to long queues at fuel stations, increasing pressure on distribution networks.

Shantha Silva assured that fuel distribution activities will continue without interruption today and even on tomorrow’s Poya Day. He urged the public not to panic and to purchase fuel only as needed to help restore normal supply operations as soon as possible.
