Colombo, May 15 (Daily Mirro) - A tense situation was reported near the Presidential Secretariat due to a protest by the Citizen Power Organization Against Bribery, Corruption and Waste this morning.

The protesters demand the government take action against the decision to restore the vehicle permits to the MPs.

Soon after the protest started, the police removed the banners and as a result, the heated situation occurred.

Later, the protestors handed over a memorandum to the President's Additional Secretary, Kapila Munasinghe.

Thank you for Citizen Power Organization Against Bribery, Corruption and Waste. We need to get rid of these greedy morons from the parliament sooner than later. Impressive looking armed forces to protect the rogues

Term after Term, Why They Are Voted Back Thursday, 16 May 2024 03:56 AM

Nothing much will happen. It’s all drama and eventually the letter place in a highly sophisticated shredder. Just wasting time and resources doing all these protest and at the voting booth voting back these morons term after term. Most have done 2 terms or more of their so called politics bring hardship and misery to the average household.

The usual characters at work protesting. Apart from rumor who said that approval for MP vehicle import been granted?

    Pradeep Wednesday, 15 May 2024 05:37 PM

It is not a rumor, news is that its approved by the House Committee. Next the speaker is supposed to write to the President as finance minister for approval. The citizens power organization is showing our dismay of what is happening. So at least appreciate them for their effort.

    joshua Wednesday, 15 May 2024 05:49 PM

An approval is not what we are waiting for. The fact that the greedy morons have requested for a permit, shows the attitude of these useless characters. There is no rationale in blaming the protest team, they are doing a duty for the ordinary persons like us. Think before you pen your comment

No one should give special privileges like vehicle permits. All the people of the county suffered during the bad economic situation and so all should be equally treated

Worth cause to do a protest - one of the rare instances in Sri Lankan history. MPs should be provided bus passes. If they demand special privileges, tell them to resign and not to contest the election again. The political culture should be changed.

My deepest appreciation for this gentleman and the lady for putting up a brave fight against these police scoundrels now attempting to defend this wretched government. However, its days are numbered.

Nelum Wickramasighe Thursday, 16 May 2024 05:26 AM

So great of them to protest. As some one has suggested, They shoulf be given BUS Passes and not Vehicle permits. Oh! Do they care about the situation in the country even whilst being in the parliament? Oh! No!! Thank you all for this protest.

CITIZENS PLEASE NOTE NOT TO BUY THESE PERMITS WHICH WOULD BE FOR SALE. Then there would be NO MARKET for this 'Permit' as it would be just another ''piece of paper''...

    Anil Wednesday, 15 May 2024 09:54 PM

Need of the hour is R. Premadasa and Ranjan Wijeratne to crush these protests. Hope Sajith would do it, if elected.

Very good job guys. Take it to next level. Organize at each major city. SJB and NPP both are not doing anything as opposition. Good opportunity exists for any new party or movement by highlighting these kinds of corruption and bribes. It will help such parties to gain votes and possibly few seats too due to deal politics played by sjb and npp.
