Teachers and youth betrayed after election promises: Namal

Colombo, Feb 1 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa has accused the government of betraying young people and teachers who supported it during the period when it was in opposition.

Addressing journalists in Kamburupitiya, Rajapaksa said that despite an existing shortage of teachers and prior agreements on recruitment procedures, qualified individuals are now being denied appointments for political reasons. He claimed that many of these teachers had met the required qualifications and had even secured legal recognition for their recruitment process.

According to Rajapaksa, teachers who continued to educate students during periods of unrest are now being sidelined due to their political affiliations. He described this as part of a broader political agenda aimed at marginalizing those who do not align with the ruling party.
