The road leading to the Jaffna University Student Hostel in Kondavil has fallen into a state of disrepair, with potholes and waterlogged sections causing significant difficulties for students.
An investigation revealed that the situation has worsened with the onset of the rainy season, making travel on foot especially challenging for the residential university’s students.
The dilapidated stretch, measuring approximately 500 meters from the hostel gate to the premises, urgently requires repair or resurfacing using Asphalt Base Course (ABC) to ensure safe passage.
In addition to road repairs, it has been suggested that the hostel premises, which house around 500 students, be beautified through landscaping and maintenance to create a more pleasant environment for residents.
Students and staff have urged authorities to take immediate action to address these pressing concerns.
