Cooperative Services, Marketing Development and Consumer Protection State Minister Gunapala Rathnasekara said today he rendered his resignation to the President yesterday.

He told Parliament that the President did not accept the letter at that moment and that however, he explained to the President that he could not function as a Minister due to the prevailing situation in the country. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera )

What is required is to resign in writing. There is no requirement in the constitution for it to be accepted by the president. The moment you tender the resignation a minister stands removed from his position.

Resign and go, no need for the president to accept, he is illegitimate too. So whether he accepts or not you give letter if resignation and you are good to go. Hope the rest follows too.
