Sri Lankan fishing trawler reportedly hijacked by Somali pirates

Dikkowita, Jan 27 (Daily Mirror) - Somali pirates have reportedly hijacked a Sri Lankan multi-day fishing trawler with six fishermen aboard in the Arabian Sea.

The trawler 'Lorenzo Putha 04' reportedly departed from the Dikkowita Fisheries Harbour on January 12.

The abduction had occurred approximately 1,160 nautical miles away from the Sri Lankan coast.

There is an old saying “Intelligent Men Do Not Work In Uniform Jobs”. How true it is when we look at the “Somali Pirates” situation . So many different Navies including the American,British,French , Chinese,and Indian are operating in that maritime region for more than ten years trying to degrade and destroy the Somali pirates. And still they are unable to make any differences.This is a humiliating disgrace to the international Navies’ abilities given that the the Somali pirates are operating on negligible resources. As the Pirates are attacking the ships in the ocean and not closer to the shores the Navies too have stationed their ships in the ocean. But the ocean is vast and it is impossible to detect tiny Somali boats all the time.The question is from where these Somali boats are coming from,it is from the Somali shores.So the “brainless Navies” must be told to operate very close to the Somali shores so they have increased chances of detecting and destroying the pirate boats.

Keep firing warning shots ! Many of those pirates are now multi millionaire businessmen. A can of Coca Cola can cost as much as 10 USD in regions where pirates have been successful. Western policies only propagate these activities. There has never been a wholehearted effort to eradicate pirating.

Since China has forced tiny Somalia to agree, by whatever means, to build a naval base there, the Chinese now have a damn duty to clear the waters there of pirates. But the selfish Chinese only take action when it affects their economic concerns.
