Speeding jeep knocks pedestrian to death in Piliyandala

A 52-year old man had died when he was hit by a luxury jeep driven by a woman at Bokundara in Piliyandala this morning, the Police said.

The jeep was traveling from Piliyandala to Colombo when it crashed into a nearby concrete wall of a workshop and hit the man who was walking on the road.

The deceased is a resident of Werahera, Boralesgamuwa.

Traffic flow from Piliyandala to Colombo was also severely disrupted due to the accident

The 53-year-old woman from Nugegoda who drove the jeep was arrested and is to be produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate's Court today. (DSB)

The woman driver should be fined heavily for negligence and Police cancel her licence. Also she should pay a substantial amount of compensation to the deceased family.
