Special train services to facilitate devotees visiting Gangaramaya



Colombo, Feb. 3 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Railways has arranged special train services to facilitate devotees travelling to Colombo to worship the sacred relics brought from India at the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple.

These additional trains will operate from February 5 to February 10, 2026, in addition to the regular train services, enabling pilgrims to travel to Colombo and return home after completing their religious observances.

Special Train Schedules

Avissawella – Colombo Fort

  • Departure from Avissawella: 7.15 p.m.
  • Arrival at Colombo Fort: 9.56 p.m.

Rambukkana – Colombo Fort

  • Departure from Rambukkana: 6.30 p.m.
  • Arrival at Colombo Fort: 8.51 p.m.

Aluthgama – Maradana

  • Departure from Aluthgama: 7.10 p.m.
  • Arrival at Maradana: 8.57 p.m.

Colombo Fort – Avissawella

  • Departure from Colombo Fort: 1.00 a.m.
  • Arrival at Avissawella: 3.37 a.m.

Colombo Fort – Rambukkana

  • Departure from Colombo Fort: 1.00 a.m.
  • Arrival at Rambukkana: 3.15 a.m.

Maradana – Aluthgama

  • Departure from Maradana: 2.00 a.m.
  • Arrival at Aluthgama: 3.47 a.m.

The Railways Department requests the media to inform the public about these special train services arranged for the convenience of devotees.

The announcement was made by G.D.A. Samarasinghe, Superintendent (Traffic), Sri Lanka Railways, acting on behalf of the General Manager.
