Colombo, Nov. 23 (Daily Mirror)- The Department of Examinations informs candidates of the Advanced Level (A/L) examinations who are affected by the adverse whether conditions to contact the nearest Zonal Education office, the Department of Examinations or the Disaster Management Centre if they are unable to access even the alternative transport methods.
In a statement, Commissioner General of Examinations A.K.S. Indika Kumari Liyanage said that the Disaster Management Centre has taken steps to provide required facilities for the candidates affected by disaster situations like floods to reach their examination centres.
She said if a candidate is unable to access even to the alternative methods, he or she can contact the nearest Zonal Education office, or Department of Examinations via hotline 1911 or the Disaster Management Centre via 117.
Meanwhile, the Department of Examinations requests the AL candidates who are affected due to the closure of a section of the Kandy-Colombo main road following the disaster in Kadugannawa, to use the railway service or alternate routes.
She said steps have been taken to arrange a special transport mechanism by the Disaster Management Centre and the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) for the candidates affected by the road closure to reach their respective examination centres.
