Colombo, Sept. 25 (Daily Mirror) - Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne today reiterated that the no confidence motion against Deputy Defence Minister Aruna Jayasekera cannot be debated as per Standing Orders, the Constitution and international parliamentary practices.

The Speaker tabled the report submitted by the Secretaries Committee and the report submitted to him by the Attorney General who has said the no faith motion has no sub judice effect on the case pending pertaining to the Easter Sunday bomb attacks.

The constitutional principle of responsibility, as confirmed by Article 45(3) and the broader constitutional framework, ensures that all who exercise executive authority whether Cabinet Ministers, State Ministers, or Deputy Ministers remain answerable to the House. Means No Confidence Motion can be debated.
