Showers after 1 p.m. across island

Colombo, April 28 (Daily Mirror) - Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m. today, according to the latest weather forecast.

The Department of Meteorology said that morning showers are also likely in some areas of the Southern Province and in the Ampara District.

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is forecast at several locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, North-Central and Southern provinces, as well as in the Mannar District.

Meanwhile, misty conditions are expected in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, along with the Anuradhapura and Kurunegala districts, particularly during the early hours of the morning.

The general public has been advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
