Several areas to experience showers and misty conditions

Colombo, January 24 (Daily Mirror) - Showers will occur at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and North-Western provinces as well as in the Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts, the Meteorology Department said.

They said eairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 millimetres is likely at some places in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces and in the Trincomalee district.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in other parts of the island after 2.00 p.m.

Misty conditions can be expected during the early morning hours in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, North-Central, Southern and Uva provinces.

The general public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
