Seek medical advice if fever lasts for more than 48 hours

As Omicron, Dengue & Virus Flu can be visible spreading in society, the health authorities have advised people to seek immediate medical treatment if fever lasts for more than 48 hours.

Deputy Director-General of Public Health Services Dr Hemantha Herath said people should not make their own conclusions about which illness they are suffering from.

“We have noticed a rapid increase in both Omicron and Dengue cases. Besides, a Virus Flu is spreading nowadays,” he pointed out.

“Against this backdrop, people should not arrive at their own conclusions whether to seek medical attention or not,” Dr Herath underscored.

Thus, he reiterated that if fever persists for more than 48 hours, seeking immediate medical advice is of the highest priority.

Meanwhile, Dr Herath urged eligible people to get the booster dose as early as possible without being carried away by myths and misconceptions. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
