Parliament, Dec 10 (Daily Mirror) - It has been decided to withdraw the security personnel deployed at the historical Minintale temple if the chief Incumbent thinks that the military presence is a threat to his life, State Minister of Defence Pramitha Bandara Tennekoon told Parliament today.
The State Minister said this in response to a question raised by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa who said there is a threat to the chief incumbent's life because of the presence of two unknown persons in civvies.
" The two persons in civvies are military personnel.
They were deployed to ensure the security of the temple and the tourists after assessing the security situation. We have decided to withdraw all military personnel who are at the temple premises if their presence is considered as a threat," the State Minister added.

Sajith was right and he should state the truth. The priest said about the threat himself. It is the govt that cannot stand it when they are exposed doing the wrong thing especially as this priest has been critical of the goct. This is pure revenge when govt caught doing wrong.

The purpose of deploying uniformed personnel is visibility which serves as a deterrent. Why in civies? Gods should take care of security in places of worship, but there are no Gods here. I have seen lightning arresters on rooftops of places of worship. Wonder if the Gods will strike their own places with lightning?

This politico does not know the difference between the STATE and the GOVERNMENT. Military personnel belong to the state and maintained by the state funds (Tax paid by the people). This politico belongs to the Government, that too maintained by the state funds, hence his actions have exceeded the powers given by the state.

Hon.priest complaining about two strangers from different division of army for unknown task,so remove them,removing whole contingent is because priest is very critical of public unfriendly government policies, government did this to take revenge but I suggest people of the country get together give required security to priests and place
