Authorities have launched an investigation into the abduction of a schoolgirl in the Daulagala Police Division, an incident that has gained significant attention on social media.

The kidnapping occurred on the morning of January 11, 2025, as the victim, a Muslim girl from Handessa, was on her way to school with a friend.

According to preliminary police investigations, a group of individuals in a van carried out the abduction.

Assault and kidnap of any child, if this is so, are grave offences. Such deplorable acts are wholly unacceptable in any law abiding society. The police must conduct an impartial investigation, to arrest and interview those involved to establish the facts. If there is a case to answer, charge and prosecute. If convicted by a court of law, then accordingly sentence. Due legal process is important at all stages.
