SLTB fare revision from August
Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus fare revision would be effective from August 1st increasing the minimum fare to Rs. 9 from the current Rs. 8, Transport Deputy Minister Asoka Abeysinghe said today.
“Bus fares are subject to an annual revision in every July 1st based on a special formula and including the rate of inflation. The minimum bus fare now is Rs. 8 which we hope to increase by one rupee,” he said.
The Minister said the second fare revision would be Rs.12 to Rs.13.
“The last the SLTB bus fare revision was in 2013 by 8 per cent and in 2012, it was increased by 20 per cent. Bus fare revisions occurred 18 times since 2002. In 2008, it was increased by 27 percent,” the Minister said. (Chaturanga Prdeep)
