So the carrots dangled for these respected officers to work so hard for the Malimawa is now getting exposed. Shouldn't ministry secretaries be from the SLAS?

SLAS team is now corrupted gang. Politicians cannot loot money without support of their secretaries. Better go with new team

Absolutely correct. Not only corrupt but also incompetent in any field. More Subject Specialists in respective Professions, with proven integrity is the need of the hour. People look for the scrap of most current assignments of SLAS craps. Recent speech of Election Commission Chair is a classic example!!

No need SLAS officers for secretary positions. Now on duty police Ministry secretary seemed a corrupted man who manipulated VFS visa scam with police minister including Passport Controller. New experienced officers needed now free from corruption. Public service commission also need outside members rather than SLAS officers who ruined this country

Very good move. He has full knowledge of all corruptions by politicians and was imprisoned illegally by Gota for doing the right things previously. AKD is our best President!

This is political appointment but we feel he is not going to make us shame for voting NPP, we want quick actions on repatriation of Arjun mahendran now absconding, required for Central Bank scam, most supreme courts verdicts on Easter Sunday 2019 mayhem seem ,trying to sweep under the mat, bring them back, all sort of corruption cases against rajapaksha , purposely threw to dustbin that would have to bring up with Ravi karunanayKe’s cases, many more,we keep eye on you, is it would be same police or people friendly police

All Ministry Secretaries are political appointments since the great Civil Service was abolished by Felix in 1972 Constitution. When the SLAS is considered it narrows the field to a few corrupt lot. Since JR appointed AnandaTissa Alwis from outside, many appointments as Secretary are outside the SLAS. How did Colombage and Kamal Gunaratne serve as Secretaries in last govt..

AKD is diverting from his policies. In his policy, AKD stated he would appoint law-obedient ministers and public officials. Ravi Seneviratne was arrested last year for drunk driving and was remanded and now is on bail granted by Mount Lavinia Magistrate. Well done!

Not such a serious crime but a personal one - not robbing the state or taking bribes. It is a small error. John 8:7-11 King James Version (KJV) : ...So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone.

Well, let the law court decide on that count. The merits of appointing honest, proven individuals to key positions should be the priority now. Mr. Ravi Senviratna will prove all such nay sayers wrong !

It certainly is a black mark, but then haven't we all driven while under the influence? Does it mean we are all bad people? Let's give him the benefit of doubt and see how this appointment transpires in the months ahead.

Minor issue when it comes to crimes commited by individuals such as Keheliya, RW etc.. Even Lal Kantha hand a similar case. Herath also had a similar case but rw saved him. Deepani too had a similar case. These are basically traffic violations and minor cases. Anyway it is a black mark for AKD. AKD emerged as a winner with only 42 percent so he has to be very careful with appointments as he is heavily backed by floating voters and majority of voters from 6.9m of Gota.

Driving under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident that damages multiple vehicles is a serious offense in Sri Lanka. That interprets, he does not have any respect to Sri Lankan law. The irony here is that the person responsible for this crime appoints as an in charge of regulating road rules, including drink-driving. It’s surprising that the NPP couldn’t find a police officer without an ongoing civil case in court. This incident occurred before he was not in power, Now you can see with power. So let’s see how the high post committee handles his appointment.

Great appointment. We need honest and capable individuals to take charge of these positions. I am sure he hasvenough information on corrupt deals to go after the crooks who robbed our country. NPP has to deliver on this soon as people's expectations are high. I am sure NPP will deliver.

Ravi S was head of NPP Police forum for a reason. He had excelled in his police job, has great ability and leadership skills and a reputation as one of the honest police officers. He would have been earmarked for this job. Hopefully, NPP has earmarked people from within and outside the party for critical positions that must be filled quickly in transitioning to the new government. Honesty, integrity and performance capability are some of the critical elements that I would be looking for, in such appointments. This one ticks that box.

Always some of the public try to pick holes on professionals who have displayed honesty and transparency. Can't we appreciate the good work that Ravi did whilst in the Police service. He was a man who will call a spade a spade without mollycoddling anyone especially the previous government who wanted him to be one of their lackeys. Wishing him the best to resurrect some of the cases which were swept under the carpet because of government interference in the past!!!!!

Need to know the exact circumstance surrounding the incident. In a country where convicts of multiple murders are being pardoned. Minister sentenced for extortion is still In parliament. You can’t write off a person for a traffic accident though it is a punishable offense. The investigation is not complete yet. People with honesty and integrity are a rare commodity in our country.
