Pushpika De Silva’s title as ‘2021 Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World’ has been denounced, National Director, Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World Chandimal Jayasinghe, announced.

In a statement, Jayasinghe said that the recent controversy surrounding Mrs. Pushpika De Silva, the 2021 title-holder of Mrs. Sri Lanka for the Mrs. World pageant has taken a toll not only in the local sphere but also before the international community jeopardizing the reputation of Sri Lanka globally.

“It is to my understanding that Mrs. Pushpika De Silva, the title holder of 2021 Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World has made a series of false allegations against the Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World organizing committee headed by me and to my greatest disappointment against the Mrs. World Organization, the final arbiter of the Mrs. World Pageant challenging their authority and denying the final decision made by the organization,” the statement said.

“I, Chandimal Jayasinghe, the National Director of Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World is of the belief that this conduct of Mrs. Pushpika De Silva, the title-holder of the 2021 Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs.World is in serious violation of the discipline and the ethical standards expected of a beauty queen or most significantly of an ambassador representing one’s own country in any capacity, whether being local or international,” it added.
