Prof. Kapila Perera to oversee SLTB operations

Colombo, January 30 (Daily Mirror) - Senior Professor Kapila C.K. Perera, Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, has been appointed to oversee the operations of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) with immediate effect.

The Ministry said that the appointment was made following the resignation of the SLTB Chairman.

Professor Perera Congratulations! Humble request; Please work with any country and kindly import electric buses for the CTB/SLTB. SLTB Buses emit black smoke to choke the Public and the Environment and this menace can be achieved through Electric Busus. Cheers.

If we use EV buses additional power demand to charge EV batteries will come from coal power stations. Which one you prefer; burning coal or diesel? Best solution for SLTB is to properly maintain bus engines so that emissions are minimized.

The SLTB doesn't need a other dud academic. It requires a person with common sense and a bit of "get up and go." The first thing that needs doing is replacing all the exhaust belching buses that are unsuitable for Sri Lankan roads. Then a stringent code of conduct for all employees. And with those failing to adapt or still committing fraud; quickly shown the door.

We have professors, phd , doctors, engineers but not skilled and talented . It's not that previous regime was better. But akd slogan was to have qualified personnel for the assigned positions. Oh yes, need more time but the ones that doesn't need time, akd did a reverse decisions.

@WTF Only imbeciles are impressed by titles. What are the professors qualifications and, what is his field of expertise ? In Australia, most of the successful business entrepreneurs did not pass form 5 ( Gerry Harvey and John Singleton et al.) Most medical discoveries have come from research level graduates. You need to grow up and get some life experience.

Yes it amazes me that so many pothey guras are sure in these columns about what ails and what is amiss and what needs be done, that the govt must recruit these very knowledgeable capable persons into each sector that they profess such great knowledge and expertise to make SL great.

You don't need a PhD to run bunch of busses. Plenty of local mudalalis run private bus yards just fine

Please test the road worthiness of all buses and competency of drivers at utmost priority. Also, needs to be continued same, as annual renewal mechanism in view of road safety.

If you want to recover CTB, give the job to an experienced expert who come from a developed country. That's why Sri Lankan airline appointed a British expert as the CEO in an effort to save the company. So called Sri Lankan experts only have academic skills and never had exposure to the real world. They would be great at university lecturers or teachers to teach kids. CTB is no child's play. It's been making losses for decades.
