Prison Department permits visits on Thai Pongal day

The Prisons Department announced that visitors will be allowed to see inmates on Thai Pongal day (January 14), Prisons Commissioner and media spokesman Gamini B. Dissanayake said.

He said the relatives of inmates can bring food, sweets and hygiene items from home, which will be accepted at all prison facilities. 

These items must comply with existing rules and health and safety protocols and will be limited to quantities suitable for one person only.
