Colombo, Feb 13 (Daily Mirror) - The President's Media Division (PMD) confirmed that the Presidential Election will be held within the mandated period and will adhere to the current timeline.
According to the PMD, the General Election is will be held next year with financial provisions to be provided for in the 2025 budget.
The Election Commission is responsible for conducting the elections and the Government will communicate with the Commission as and when required, the PMD further said.

What you fail to realise is that the Financial allocation for conduct of Presidential Election (2024) must be provided in the Budget for current year so that the Elections Commission has the necessary Funding resources to CONDUCT the elections, without let or hindrance!! That's the gist of PMD notification, so it makes talk on Elections not happening in time (or Postponement) A NON-EVENT!!??

It is very simple Interim President has power to dissolve parliament and go for the General Election, if he is truly keen on saving 10 billions on Pres.Election.After that, the new members of the assembly can abolish Executive Presidency with 2/3rd majority.This is called People's mandate even IMF and Europian or any other countries will prefer to help Sri Lanka. No countries will like to help SL now because the governing party has a history of vast amount of corruption and fraud which they will not investigate. Otherwise go for Presidential Election as scheduled this year.

General election should be kept prior to PE. This way no party will get majority and it will prevent oney way trends at GE. Holding both elections at the same time will save millions of rupees. It is people's money and this charade of two elections is a massive waste. Exorbitant taxes on people is not the way to fill the coffers. Holding both election at the same time could save around 10 billion rupees. Isn't that a good reason?

Having Presidential election first will be good for the country and the NPP. Otherwise NPP will have to combine with other parties to get the parliamentary 113 seats. If that happens it will dilute their political plan to bring the country forward.
