Few days back I received a traffic fine. The PC gave me a a slip to collect from the Police Station the note to pay the fine. Paid the fine and went to the Station after 3 hours to collect my DL, the PC has nor returned yet. This kind of inconveniencing the motorists must be prevented using the digital platform. The pracice of holding the DL until fine is paid must stop ASAP

My experience in UAE, traffic offenses caught by cameras goes into car registration number online. No police take the license, no need to go to any police station. When you put the car number plate in the website, can see all the fines that are from any part of the country. If the fines paid within two weeks, 25% discount on the fine amount. If you delay the payment, you cannot renew the car registration. Only after clearing fines the remewal registration can be done. In UAE one cannot drive a vehicle without the registration, it is a punishable offence. No hassle of collecting the license from any police station. If this process can be implemented, it will be convenient to the motorists, time saving to the police and police stations, police can be deployed to productive function. True and it is wasting time and money of people. All legal departments too are still in outdated status. Look at how our courts functions. Still the same way for decades. So many court cases of people getting drag on and on where lawyers from both sides benefits which seems to be a mega scam. At least from 2026 the government should provide resources and make it compulsory to maintain digital copy of court cases so that decision making will be quick. Also the parliament should draft update and or make new laws defining exactly certain things so that cases will not get dragged on purposely.
