President resumes LRT talks in Japan

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has sought approval of the Cabinet of Ministers prior to his official visit to Japan to resume discussions on the suspended Colombo Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, Cabinet spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardana said.

Furthermore, Cabinet approval was granted to submit to Parliament any bilateral agreements on aid or investments, he said.

"The President visited Japan with the assurance that approval of Parliament will be needed if any bilateral project is to be suspended or amended," Minister Gunawardena said.
