President honours injured officers with promotions to Major General rank



The Commander of the Armed Forces and President, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, has approved the promotion of five Brigadiers to the rank of Major General in recognition of their distinguished service, coinciding with the 76th Army Day celebrated on October 10, 2025.

According to the Army Spokesperson, the promotions have been conferred upon officers who were injured in action, as a tribute to their dedication and sacrifice for the nation.

The decision was made based on the recommendations of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Samipath Thuiyakontha (Retd.), and the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo.
