President arrives in Japan



Colombo, Sep.27 (Daily Mirror) - President Anura Kumara Dissanayake arrived at Kansai International Airport in Osaka this morning (27), commencing his official visit to Japan at the invitation of the Japanese government.

He was warmly received by Japan’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Akio Isomata, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Japan, Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe, and senior officials of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

President Dissanayake will be in Japan from 27 to 30 September. Later today, he is scheduled to attend the “Expo 2025” Sri Lanka Day celebrations in Osaka as the Chief Guest. 

The event is jointly organised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan.

During the visit, the President is expected to hold bilateral discussions with His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and the Ministers of Defence, Foreign Affairs, and Economy, Trade and Industry.

He will also participate in the Sri Lanka Investment Forum in Tokyo, jointly organised by the Sri Lanka and Japan Chambers of Commerce.

The President is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, along with a delegation of senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
