Colombo, Nov. 19 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Police have clarified that reports circulating in the media claiming that a character certificate from the Chairman of the Civil Security Committee is required to obtain a police clearance report are false.
According to the Police, those who are seeking local employment or travel to Middle Eastern countries must submit a request letter, Grama Niladhari certificate, and National Identity Card to the police station of their residence.
After proper investigation, the police station will issue the report.
For applications through the online system for employment, education, or residence in countries outside the Middle East, police clearance reports are issued after uploading the necessary documents and completing the standard investigation process.
The Police said that a character certificate from the Chairman of the Civil Security Committee is not required for issuing police clearance reports.
