Over 600,000 selected groups to receive allowances
Funds have been allocated to pay allowances for 647,683 kidney patients, the disabled and low-income earning elderly people until a new scheme is prepared, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe said.
He said 517,962 elderly, 88,602 disabled and 41,119 kidney patients will be paid their allowances and this includes those in the waiting lists.
The Minister tweeted that the allowance for the elderly will be made available from Post Offices and allowances for the disabled and kidney patients will be paid at the Divisional Secretariats.
