Only option left for Sallay is to reveal what he knows: Govt.

Colombo, June 16 (Daily Mirror) - Cabinet spokesman and Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said that the most appropriate step that former intelligence chief Suresh Sallay can take in relation to the Easter Sunday terror attacks is to disclose all information in his possession and assist the ongoing investigations.

Speaking at the weekly media briefing to announce Cabinet decisions today (16), the Minister said that there was no value in withholding information known to him as a former intelligence and military officer.

“Whatever it is, the best thing that Suresh Sallay can do as an intelligence and military officer is to reveal what he knows about the Easter Sunday attack and support the security agencies,” he said.

He also stressed that efforts should not be directed at changing investigators, but rather at cooperating with the Criminal Investigation Department and providing relevant data.

Commenting on Sallay’s detention, the Minister said he is being held under standard procedures used for detainees under detention orders, with no special cell or privileges provided.

He added that all necessary medical and humanitarian care is being ensured, while authorities continue to provide him with required nutrition and allow family members to visit and provide food. Medical attention has also been given without delay when required, he noted.
