Online reservation facility for holiday bungalows launched

Colombo, Dec. 29 (Daily Mirror) - Taking forward the government’s digital governance policy, an online reservation facility for holiday bungalows and rest houses under the Public Administration Ministry was launched today (29) under the patronage of the Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Prof. Chandana Abeyratne.

The new service allows the public to reserve holiday bungalows and rest houses by accessing the official website of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government at www.pubad.gov.lk.

Addressing the event, Minister Abeyratne said the initiative aims to enable the public to make reservations conveniently through their mobile phones. He noted that further improvements and changes would be introduced in the future based on public feedback and requirements. The Minister also stated that the Ministry is committed to strengthening the government’s digital operations and expanding people-oriented services.

Secretary to the Ministry, Mr. S. Alokabandara, along with several ministry officials, was present at the launch held at the Ministry Auditorium.

Good move; but good maintenance and courtesy staff are essential together with safety for the holiday bungalows to be successful. I recently went to look at the rooms at Batticaloa Railway Station and I was concerned; so stayed out. By the way, I do not understand the purpose of so many officials present. This country now belongs to taxpayers and such a wasteful spending should be stopped. By attending, the officers miss quality time with their family and folks. Honourable President requesting to consider my thoughts.
