One killed, another injured in mine collapse at Balangoda

Colombo, Oct. 29 (Daily Mirror) - A 26 year-old man was killed when a mine collapsed at Pinnawala in Balangoda this afternoon.

The tragedy occurred when an earth mound collapsed on him when he was working in the mine with a group of others.

He was rushed to the Balangoda Hospital after a two-hour rescue operation but was pronounced dead on admission.

Another person who sustained minor injuries was also admitted to the Balangoda Hospital.
