No arrested underworld figure will die in police custody: Justice Minister

Colombo, Oct. 23 (Daily Mirror) - Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara today assured that no underworld figures who were arrested will die in police custody.

He told Parliament that underworld figures like Makadure Madush died in police custody which prevented him divulging names of politicians who were linked to the underworld.

“Underworld figures like Madush were allegedly killed in police custody to avoid divulging names,” he said.

The Minister said underworld figures in police custody reveal names and added that Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala will reveal those names shortly.

“We are not linked to underworld and we will never support them. When we investigate and arrest culprits, please don’t object to it,’ he said.

The Minister said all politicians must not get scared of their names being revealed, only those who have links must be scared.

Minister Harshana, Guard your tongue when making statements. What if a suspect commits suicide consuming any pill received. or opponents causing some poison to be delivered for payment. There are many possibilities and don't make extreme statements or in other words don't boast.
